Evan Roth, founder of the Graffiti Research Labs, has created another one of his amazing videos for the new Jay-Z song (Brooklyn Go Hard) that’s been out since late last week. Roth posted this on his blog:
The guy known as NIX is one of Senegal most dynamic if not prominaent Mcs and he's been making a lot of waves for a few years. As every MC in Senegal, he raps in English, French and Woloff even though he mainly spits in French. His sizzling hot remix of Weezy's "A Milli" shows that he's once again back with a new mixtape. The kid has been doing it for years. Get familiar.
Junot Diaz is one of the most talented american novelist working today. After a first collection of novels and short stories in Drown he came out this summer with his second book, The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao that won the 2008 Pullitzer Prze for best novel. Junot is one of my favorite writers and his stories are just incredibly well written and will hit home for so many people. Once you pick up his book, you won't be able to put it down. Junot is one of the more prominent latino writers of our era even though his stories depict a very personal view of latinos in general and Dominicans in particular. The dominican-nerd that is Oscar Wao is one of those compelling characters that you just can't find anywhere else but still can very easily relate to. Here is the interview from when Junot visited the Colbert Report a few weeks ago. It's hilarious as usual.
Rik Cordero has been THE director to watch these days. Ever since his string of videos with your boy Joel Ortiz, all eyes have been on him and his team. He was first noticed by the mainstrem media for shooting the Blue magic video trailer himself without even being commissioned for it yet. Everyone would agree that his version was much MUCH better than the official Hype Williams one. After that he worked with hip-hop undergraound superstars such as Joe Budden, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, Consequence and Ali Vegas. Now most peoaple were very excited to hear he was going to direct Nas's videos and he took the opportunity that was given him to work with a real star and knocked it out of the park. Of course all of his codes are present, the gritty black and whites, the slow motion and the close-ups, but more importantly, the subject matter still prevails over T&A. Hats off to Three 21 media once more for killing it and make sure you cop Nas's album as soon as it comes out.
This is Colin Munroe He's a canadian producer and writer. He has been signed by Dallas Austin and has teamed up with a graphist friend of his to make amazing videos. This guy could be one of those Hip-Hop co-signed white boys just like John Mayer, Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke.
Justice comes out with a video for their new single Stress. This video is shot around Paris by Romain Gavras, of Kourtrajmé and son of Costa Gavras. This video is shot in the style of french magazines focusing on youth and is probably the most violent I've ever seen. Justice once again will make people talk about their videos. This is one great video
Talking about his 21st debate with Senator Clinton, he basically said that what you needed to do was brush shit off. And this is a nice video, hilarious.
